Here's an example of a straight-out Historic Restoration of an 1880s Victorian. The once elaborate exterior had long ago been covered over with asbestos shingles, and much of the wood detailing had rotted away before that was done. I found the very house design in an 1870s plan book, and working from there, we brought the house back to its original appearance.
